Off to the swings

Mia's new favorite activity is swinging at the park. She screams and claps her hands every time we get near the park entrance. Posted by Picasa

The reunion

We just returned from our trip to Chicago. It was such a special time for Dennis and me. We feel very fortunate to have shared our adoption experience with such great people. We spent the weekend letting the kids play together and catching up with the parents. We laughed a lot at the experiences we shared and how we really had no idea what we were getting into, but agree that it was a life changing experience.

Enjoy the pictures--

Heading to Chicago

We are leaving this weekend for our first annual Guatemala reunion. Around this time last year, we were a group of strangers living in Antigua and sharing the most remarkable experience. During our summer together, we became much more than friends. Jonathan, Lulu, Lily, Juniper, and Wesley will always be special to Mia. They were her family for a snippet in time in a magical place that was her home. I can't wait to visit and catch up with everyone. Hopefully, this will be the first of many. All I can think of is the summer evenings hearing all of the babies crying through the windows and now they seem so much older. Posted by Picasa

Tea time!

It was 40 degrees and rainy today. A perfect day for a summer tea party. I bought a few summer things for Mia, so we changed into a little summer outfit and had a cup of tea. Posted by Picasa

Cousin Adeline the author

Mia's cousin Adeline lives in Maine and sent her a VERY special gift. Not only her favorite outfit when she was a baby, but a book written and illustrated especially for Mia (handmade life size character included) titled The Green Dog Named Mia . Dennis and I were also lucky enough to be part of this very special story. Adeline was even nice enough to bind the pages in plastic, so we can keep the book for years to come. Posted by Picasa
